Volodymyr Lytvyn, Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine: There exist no Insurmountable Problems in the Relations between Ukraine and Russia Problematic Issues should be revised
At the press conference in Simferopol, Volodymyr Lytvyn, Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, declared the necessity of revising the relations between Ukraine and Russia.
"First and foremost, one should have the list of problematic issues in the relations between Ukraine and Russia. Having scrutinized it, we will testify the absence of insurmountable obstacles in our relations. The only point is the unwillingness to tackle the said issues, as it is far more profitable to deal with the gas matters, - stated V.Lytvyn. It has become a habit for some people to earn on the gas issues". "One should tackle the issues that will alleviate human life", - he stated.
The Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine deems necessary "to diverge from the general words concerning fraternal love and friendship, and understand the existence of common interests, convergent and divergent standpoints". "If our positions are convergent, we should exert every effort to achieve positive results. Otherwise, we should talk the matters over to see that concurrence prevails", - stated V.Lytvyn.
He also called for enhancing the role of both parliaments in the settlement of crucial issues, and stated that he personally would do his best to improve the relations between Ukraine and Russia.
